Bestbuychildrensclothing.com is a business that was born from an idea my wife and I had from about a year ago. We were out shopping and we noticed some really nice t-shirts and dresses for children which were colourful, lightweight and different from most of the kids clothing we had seen around. At the time my wife was 6 months pregnant so we were expecting our first child and were looking for any ideas about what way to go in the future with business ideas or work.

I had always been interested in  e-commerce and wanted my own business rather then being an employee. After a few phone calls and some frustration we managed to source a distributer for the clothing which came directly from the factory and was from a licensed manufacturer. As I have had some bad luck in the past with some of my previous business endeavours, like when I tried to find a supplier for Shimano fishing reels which were at the time selling very well through auction outlets like eBay so a friend and I ordered 10 through a online supplier or so-called supplier in Malaysia. Everything sounded ok so we sent the requested amount for the stock through Western Union and waited for the delivery. Did it come?  NO! after the payment was received that was the last we heard from our friend in Malaysia who was $800 better off but you learn from your mistakes.

Anyway back to the kids clothing so after we had managed to find the distributer we decided to place a small order first of about 50 shirts for kids from Ben10 , Pokémon , Spiderman and a few other well known children’s characters. I decided firstly to try them on eBay and they sold ok so we placed a larger order and got some of the dresses as well like Disney Princess, Winnie the Pooh and Dora the Explorer again no problem we were receiving regular sales and everything was ok.

The problem started when the economic crisis arrived this year and sales dropped, as I import all of my stock I  was having to use different currencies to pay for my stock and the exchange rate plummeted so we were losing a large percent of our profit on the exchange rate and were receiving fewer orders then usual so I decided to try and expand the business by going into e-commerce and opening my own online store which was a new experience to us.

Firstly I started looking for a good webhost and tried a few different services but with little results and to be honest little effort on my part as I was new to this and didn’t know about things like SEO and linking so was having little success. I though we just opened the site and orders would come in, but this isn’t the case as we soon realised there is a lot of work and time to be put into running a web store with things like stock and inventory to manage plus the SEO and getting the site noticed and keeping the site looking good and running smoothly keeping customers happy with there orders and requests.

I think it’s the right level for me as they are very helpful and provide an easy to navigate service with plenty of customer support for any problems that do arise.

So this is where we are currently at the store is up and running and orders are picking up.
